We were contacted by a lovely gentleman who, after many years in the trade, had decided the time had finally come to retire and step away from the business. His workshop and small office in Manchester had been his working life — a place where, over the years, he had edited film and repaired all manner of equipment — and it was now packed from floor to ceiling and needed clearing so the premises could be handed back.

It was clear from the moment we arrived that this was no ordinary clearance. Among the contents were professional Steenbeck flatbed film-editing tables, televisions, oscilloscopes, reels and cassettes of film, test equipment, workbenches and tooling — a real treasure trove of a working life. Our customer was understandably sad to be parting with it; much of the kit had once been expensive and specialist, but the market for it had long gone and, try as he might, he could no longer sell it. In the end he asked us simply to clear it all for him.

We worked through the premises room by room — the workshop, the office and the storerooms. Anything still of use was set aside for donation, and all of the electrical and electronic equipment was sent for responsible recycling in line with WEEE regulations, so nothing that could be recovered went to waste. Load by load, the rooms were emptied right back to bare floor.

By the time we had finished, every space was clear and ready for handover. It is always a privilege to help someone close this kind of chapter, and we were glad to take the worry of it off his hands and make sure his life's work was cleared properly and with care.

Our client needed us to clear a few rooms, a garage and garden items from a superb detached house in Altrincham Manchester, our clients were selling the property and emigrating to Australia for work purposes with their two young children hoping to start a new and exciting life for the children. The couple had spent weeks preparing for the move and the majority of the furniture they had already either given away to family and friends and had a local charity shop in to take any items that could be sold. Some of their valuable items they said they had sold in advance to help fund their new start in Australia. There was not a lot left to clear in the main property as most of the goods had been moved to the garage or garden area to be cleared. The main house was cleared in under four hours. Most of the items in the garage were not in good enough condition to pass on to charity, however in the main house the couple had held on to essential items until the last minute such as beds, sideboard coffee tables etc. the children had held on to their prized possessions until the last moment as well so there were bikes, scooters and lots of toys which we were able to donate to a local charity shop in Altrincham. The couple had boxed up a couple of boxes of personal belongings that they did not have to room to take with them but they wished to keep so they asked us if we would deliver them to the lady's mother's house for safe storage which was only five minutes drive away in Altrincham, we loaded our van with all the items which were not suitable for charity and the items to deliver which we dropped off on the way to a recycling centre near Altrincham.

We were recommended to clear a verminous 2 bedroom property in Manchester. We were also required to strip wallpaper from all walls and remove both the bathroom and kitchen units. Rather than take more time out from this rather large job to fill vans and then drive them to waste disposalcentres to dispose of the rubbish as we were on a tight time schedule (it had to be done in one day), we decided to hire 2 large 12 yard skips which was sufficient enough to clear the entire house of all contents - including bathroom and kitchen units as requested by the customer, before getting to work on stripping wallpaper from all 9 rooms, finishing the whole property in under fourteen hours.

The brief was to clear a 3-bedroom detached house in Didsbury, Manchester, on behalf of a private house owner who had just bought the property with plans to renovate it before moving. The house contained the usual contents to be cleared and we were also requested to remove all carpets, kitchen units and to clear the garden shed before dismantling it to take away. The job was completed in under half a day.
