Woverhampton fly-tipping eyesore to be demolished

A WEDNESFIELD, Wolverhampton eyesore which has been used by fly-tippers is to be demolished.

A number of unused or derelict garages on the edge of Ashmore Park beside the Wednesfield Aces Cycle Speedway have been in disrepair for years and attracted vandalism, fly-tipping and grafitti.

The garages – close to a local park and the cycle track – were eventually boarded up but they have been broken into repeatedly and rubbish and industrial waste has been dumped in them.

As well, vandals have caused damage to them while other intruders have left behind drug items and lit fires inside.

Wolverhampton Homes communications manager Kate Hughes told local website Wv11.co.uk: “The garages are set to be demolished soon and we are currently negotiating with the two remaining tenants, but until alternative locations are found we can’t demolish them.”

She added: “However, our maintenance team are going out to make the site more secure soon.”
