Lowestoft team tackles 18 fly-tipping cases

LOWESTOFT’S cleansing team had a busy week. It had to deal with 18 fly-tipping reports – as well as offensive graffiti in the Britten Centre car park.



Waveney Norse cleansing service manager, Mike Daniels, said: “The big issue is bags left at bin collection points. We've removed them from Bevan Street, Clapham Road, Lovewell Road, Anchor Street, Lorne Road, London Road South, Reeve Street, Windsor Road, The Hemplands and Arnham Court.



“Bagged waste is not picked up as part of the waste collection service and may be treated and investigated as fly-tipping.”


He added: “We’ve also collected gas bottles from Bridge Road, fence panels from Manor Park Road and Anchor Street, televisions from Parkhill, Camp Road and Kimberly Road, plus beds and bedding from Norwich Road and Pakefield Street car park.”



Of the offensive graffiti at the Britten Centre car park, Mr Daniels said: “Graffiti damages streets and public places. Offensive graffiti can cause alarm, harassment and distress, and we always aim to remove this as swiftly as possible.”
