Crosby recycling contest gives pupils the green light

YOUNG people in the Crosby area are helping Tesco to promote the benefits of recycling.

Pupils from primary schools in the area have been asked to create a picture with a slogan, or a poem, that conveys ‘What Recycling Means to You’.

The winner’s school will receive a £500 donation while the winning pupil will get £100 worht of Tesco Gift Cards.

The winning pupil and their class will be invited to attend the official launch of a new recycling centre at the Tesco store in Bootle. They will be presented with the donation and will declare the Tesco officially open.

The schoolchildfen will be shown how the centre works and Tesco staff will talk to them about the importance of recycling.

The recycling centre at the bootle store consists of a machine that recycles household waste, including plastic and glass bottles, and aluminium and steels cans.

The local paper, the Crosby Herald, teamed up with Tesco to run the competition.

Tesco has set up a number of recycling centres around the UK.
Its Head of Waste and Recycling, Sion Stanfield, said: “This automated Recycling Centre makes it quicker, easier, more convenient and more fun to recycle and is a key part of the ongoing commitment by Tesco to the community and to the environment.”
