Three Rivers, Hertfordshire residents to recycle more plastic
13 March 2010
THREE Rivers District Council in Hertfordshire is making it much easier for householders to get rid of their rubbish.
From yesterday, they can recycle plastics such butter, ice-cream and margarine tubs, microwave meal trays, yoghurt pots, plastic lids, plastic bags and flower pots by depositing them in their kerbside recycling boxes.
Councillor Sara Bedford said: “Hopefully this will mean that far more of our household waste can be recycled and very little will need to be placed into the ordinary waste green wheelie bin.”
Householders will be issued soon with a council leaflet with more information about the scheme.
The council says that the recycling box should not be used to deposit cling film, expanded polystyrene and raw-meat wrappings.
The council was formed by combining the former urban districts of Rickmansworth and Chorleywood with part of the rural district of Watford.
