Recycling Articles : Recycling FurnitureBack To Recycling Articles Index If you have a lot of excess furniture in your house and need a cleanup, or if you have just bought new furniture and wish to recycle your old furniture then there are plenty of options available to you. Also, if you have suddenly inherited the estate of a loved one then you are likely to have a lot of basic furniture on your hands that you may not want to keep. Fortunately, there are many options available to those who wish to recycle excess furniture.Usable furniture can be donated to charity shops or local service providers such as schools, community centres and churches. Also, you may know a relative or friend who could use the old furniture - remember reusing is the quickest way to recycle. Selling the furniture is another way to achieve the same thing whilst earning money in the process. Garage sales, car boot sales and, for slightly more up-market items, auction rooms, are great places to offload unwanted furniture. There is always a market for items that are wooden, full of character and old so you could conceivably find yourself earning more than youd thought. Ebay is another option but remember to set the delivery option to pick up only or if you are planning on posting the item, set the postage and packaging fee appropriately for special delivery and boxed packaging. If your furniture is not antique then before you sell it, it is usually wise to make sure that it bears the kite mark of approval which designates that it meets British standards of safety. The last thing youd want would be to donate furniture to someone that is unsafe, so its better to be safe than sorry. Remember that some furniture that looks as though it is in bad shape can be effectively reupholstered so long as the frame is still standing strong. In the end, why add to the landfill when that piece of furniture could help someone out by being reused?
