Cleaning your wheelie bin on a frequent basis is essential to keep it free from flies and other vermin, not to mention smelly ordours. Here are a few wheelie bin cleaning tips to help you keep your bin nice and clean:

* Ensure that your wheelie bin is empty and placed close to a drainage system or on grass to allow the excess water to escape, before attempting to clean it

* Use warm water and washing up liquid or disinfectant and pour it into your wheelie bin, either standing up right or on it’s side

* If you’re cleaning your bin in a standing up position, one of the best ways to get rid of the sludge that can collect inside your bin is to close the lid and then by grabbing the handle, swing it gently from side to side to create a swirl inside the bin which will break down the grime

* Alternatively you can use a hose to hose down your wheelie bin or tie some old cloths to the end of a stick and scrub the insides of the bin akin to using a toothbrush to clean your teeth

* Once you are satisfied your wheelie bin is cleaned, let it dry before placing old newspaper pages into the bottom of your wheelie bin which will make further cleaning tasks that much easier as this will act as a barrier to the buildup of dirt and grime that can stick to the bottom of your wheelie bin with every use

* You can cut down the number of times you need to clean your wheelie bin by making sure all rubbish you place into it is wrapped securely in tightly tied bags and by lining the inside of the bin with thick bags. All of which will help prevent the build-up of grime - meaning all you have to do is give it a rinse every now and again instead of a full clean.
